The Music Way is Robert Way, composer/arranger.  His work
has had a broad scope ranging from radio jingles to religious
cantatas for narrator, large concert orchestra and large choir.
He has also composed for films, radio and TV programs.

Robert has an undergraduate degree in Music, a four year
graduate program in Theology and a 5 year graduate program
in Psychology.

His most active time period was from 1960 to mid 1970’s.
The absence from the music world (1975 - 1995) was due to
a career change to Clinical Psychology.  Following retirement
in 1995, he returned to the music world which is his first love.

He regards his music as impressionistic and mood setting.
His Southern heritage is manifested in the impressionistic
settings of the Spirituals he grew up with as a child.  The
interpretations are quite different from those we usually hear.

There are many samples by which you may evaluate the type
of music he composes.  If you like what you hear, it is simple
and inexpensive to order them.

On the left is a photo of me with two of the 20th
Century’s great composers.  In the white shirt is
Samuel Spence who is famous for his magnifi-
cent music for the NFL Films series plus many
film and TV scores.   The man standing is the
great composer of operettas, Rudolph Friml.
Several of his operettas were made into movies
featuring Jeanette McDonald, Nelson Eddy and
Alan Jones (father of pop singer Jack Jones).
The photo  was taken in 1965 at a recording
session where “The Wonderful World of Music”
LP, “Ellery Queen Mysteries” for radio, 10
compositions for “Introspect” radio series, a
theme for “Jack Nicklaus Golf Tips,” a station
ID package of jingles for WEZE, 20 minutes of
production music for the AMFED library, and
music for a TV Thanksgiving program.  It was a
session that lasted for two days in the beautiful
city of Munich, Germany.
Rudolph is no longer with us but Sam is busy
conducting symphony orchestras playing his
music and creating new compositions.
The photo on the right is one from 1952 when I was
announcer/singer on the “Heckman House Party”
which originated in Greenville, SC.

The reason for placing it under the information above
is to show (if you look carefully) that the music I am
singing is one of Rudolph Friml’s songs from “The
Firefly” which starred Jeanette McDonald and Alan
Jones.  Friml’s songs were frequently heard in my
other programs “Bob Way Sings” (on other stations
as well).   It was such a great joy when he came to
my session in Munich with Sam Spence.
