The Canyon Suite is an original work of six movements lasting
for 17 minutes. It is an Impressionistic study of a journey in,
during and out of the Canyon. The work was composed for
large concert orchestra with a female voice used in one of the
movements.
The 11 Southern Spirituals are quite familiar to most; however,
the treatment of the compositions is quite unique. Combined
with the large concert orchestra are such instruments as
harmonica, guitar, bass flute and penny whistle.
The Spirituals are: Ezekiel Saw De Wheel; Steal Away;
Nobody Knows The Trouble I’ve Seen; Sometimes I Feel
Like A Motherless Child: Ev’ry Time I Feel The Spirit;
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot; He Never Said A Mumbalin’
Word; Sweet Lil’ Jesus Boy; Were You There; Go Down
Moses; and Deep River.
